Custom Coloring Book Printing
Print coloring books for kids, adults, and everyone in between.
Printing coloring books is an excellent way to share your artistry with the world while helping people of all ages unlock their creativity. As a family-owned printer since 1982, we ship custom coloring books nationwide in 1 to 3 days from our production facilities in San Luis Obispo, California, and Hudson, Wisconsin.
Think coloring books are just for children? Think again! Adult coloring books (that is to say, designs for adults and older kids) are a growing trend. Not only is coloring a fun and relaxing activity to help unwind, but studies show that coloring is good for your health, too.
8.5" x 11" is our most popular trim size for coloring books, giving artwork plenty of room to breathe. We also offer 8.5" x 8.5" and 5.5" x 8.5" for a more compact, travel-friendly book, plus custom sizes on request.

Custom Coloring Book FAQs
Here are a few of the most common questions about custom coloring book printing. Feel free to contact us if you need more help!
What kind of paper should I use for custom coloring books?
We recommend at least 24/60# Text Smooth for a good image quality and acceptable thickness.
If printing double-sided, you may want to consider upgrading to the 28/70# Text Smooth. This has reduced show-through from one side to the next.
For the best quality and minimal show-through, upgrade one more step to the 32/80# Text Smooth. This thickness is sufficient to keep markers from bleeding through, while also being great for crayons, colored pencils, and other media.
We recommend highly against any glossy paper, since it takes a couple seconds for markers to dry and does not work well with other coloring media.
Should I print in color or B&W?
We recommend ordering your covers printed in color with the inside pages in black and white. Use this to inspire your users and generate ideas for mixing out-of-this-world color palettes.
What size can I print my coloring book?
8.5" x 11" is the most popular size for coloring books, since it gives artwork plenty of room and is easy to design for. We also print 8.5" x 8.5" and 5.5" x 8.5" for a more compact, travel-friendly book. Custom trim sizes are available on request; contact us for a quote.
Is there a minimum order quantity?
Minimums vary by binding type. Saddle-stitch and perfect binding are typically the most economical for bulk orders, while spiral and wire-o binding are more flexible for smaller runs. Enter your quantity and ZIP code in the order form for an exact price at any print run size.
Can I sell the coloring books I print?
Yes, as long as you own the rights to the artwork or have permission to reproduce it. Many of our customers are independent artists and self-publishers printing coloring books for retail, fundraisers, or online sales. We do not print copyrighted designs, characters, or artwork without proof of licensing.
What file format do I need to submit my coloring book design?
Print-ready PDF is preferred, with each page sized to your final trim dimensions and artwork in black line art at a minimum of 300 DPI. If you are still working on your files, our design team can help prepare them for print; contact us for details.
Which binding is best for kids versus adults?
For younger children, saddle-stitch or perfect binding tends to hold up best to enthusiastic use and repeated flipping. For adult coloring books, spiral or wire-o binding is popular because the book can lay flat or fold all the way back, which makes it easier to color near the spine.
How long does it take to print custom coloring books?
The cost calculator is setup to give you the most accurate estimate. Enter your ZIP code at the bottom of the order form to see the estimated range for standard delivery, as well as guaranteed rush delivery options if you need your coloring books delivered sooner.
Under normal conditions, books typically ship out of Wisconsin or California in 3-5 business days.
